The Yellow Beech is a protected natural monument in Republika Srpska, located in the hamlet of Stolići, in the village of Zaselje near Kotor Varoš. It represents a unique variety of the Moesian beech, which, according to current knowledge, has only been identified at this specific location.
The protected area includes the tree itself and its immediate surroundings, covering roughly 5,000 square meters, and is managed by the “Žuta bukva” eco-ethno village from Kotor Varoš. This site is particularly important as it is the first dendrological natural monument in Republika Srpska designated under modern legislation.
The tree is estimated to be around 300 years old and is distinguished by its unusual, uniformly golden-yellow leaves, which is how it got its name.
